What does our Quality Assurance commitment mean to your business?

There some recurrent themes in the translations industry such as the concept of Translation as a non-commodity, the quality-price-speed triangle and the rise of machine translations vs human translations.Quality is certainly a common denominator to all these as we cannot write about translations without putting an emphasis on quality.

Today we’re going to discuss these points with Francesca Calvo di Marco our very own Quality Auditor.

So, let’s start from the beginning. Francesca recently told me

Ocean Translations offers a additional quality assurance supplied by a Quality Department devoted to client satisfaction.

Sounds good. But what does it mean?

Well, the way we at OT understand it, it is a multi-step process that begins with experienced, subject-oriented reviewers. They oversee the translations carried out by professional linguists who are also carefully chosen on a per-project basis.

So how is this different from other run-of-the-mill quality assurance operations?

As part of our production process, we have managed to gather an excellent team of Lead Linguists, who take charge of a given set of projects from different clients.

Reviewers can cross-check information with these linguists, who are deeply familiarized with the client´s reference material.

After being checked by the reviewer and the Lead Linguist, our translations are handed over to proofreaders, who search for the odd undetected typo, spelling or punctuation mistake.

Once this is done, texts are sent over to our Desktop Publishing Team (DTP), resident techies who guarantee our translations will look exactly like your source documents.

For further linguistic assurance, our Language and Quality Manager is available to translators, reviewers, Lead Linguists and proofreaders at all times for solving translation quandaries.

Finally, finishing our Quality Assurance Pyramid is our Quality Auditor, whose continuous resource assessment guarantees our linguists find the right balance between a prompt delivery and natural sounding texts.

Put simply, Ocean Translations makes sure everybody knows their business: we know the field, we know the terminology, we know you—and your company.
